We’ve had the Barefoot for more than a month now and are really happy we made the switch. Though this caravan is approximately the same size as our T@B 320S, it feels bigger and more spacious. Everyone has their preferences about different things, but for us this is just a better layout, it has more storage and even in our driveway we are using it more than we used the T@B.

One of the big things with getting a new camper is that you have a forced moment to rethink all your gear. As we unpacked the T@B to send her off to her new life, we found things that we’d NEVER actually used. Some of those things were good reminders that we needed to find better spots to store things so they were easy to get to because we would have used them if they hadn’t been buried. Other things were reminders that you don’t need more cups than you’ll ever use or two sets of playing cards or to carry lights that you haven’t used in years.

Before we moved anything into the new Barefoot, we went through all of our gear. Was it useful but in bad shape and needed to be replaced? Was it something that we needed to find a better spot for? Where was the best spot for this? What other items were similar? Could they be packed together to make it easier to find? And, did it match the color scheme we are going with? It was an opportunity to make a few upgrades, to clean everything up and to pass on some things that just don’t need to be a part of our camp life at this point.

One of the challenges with the Barefoot was that we used the storage bin in the front of the T@B for a lot of the outdoor dirty gear. The hose, the hitch, the thermacells, the dog tie-up, the small propane bottles, the shore power and the toolkit all went into that box along with a handful of other things. The boxes in the front of the Barefoot definitely wouldn’t store all of those items. So we had to rethink what would fit and what belonged inside and what belonged outside. This led us to making some good upgrades- a flat expandable hose, a new kind of hitch grease, a smaller rug that would be less unwieldy, a new dog tie-up that would be smaller and easy to hook up.

Organizing everything into the Barefoot was an opportunity to also think about how we use things, how we setup camp and what we want our camping experience to be going forward. I thought about the struggles we had with getting everything out to setup our camp. As much as we were able to do that pretty quickly, it also was a lot of “where is that?” With the Barefoot, we were able to put things we need right away near the door inside the camper. We found a way to get the mattress pad and the bedding tucked away so that we can easily take the bed up and down, but also have a REALLY comfortable bed.

In the end, we were just amazed that we got everything we might need or want tucked into the caravan with some of the storage spots still empty and almost nothing crammed in. This caravan has SO much more storage than the T@B did. We are really excited for our camping adventures this year and how much easier they will be.
